jadephelle:

This is a tattoo design I made for my best friend as a symbolic reminder of her college years spent in Seattle. The snail represents her personal mantras of “slow and steady” and “carrying your house on your back”, while the salmonberry is a wildflower species native to the Pacific Northwest. She hasn’t gotten the ink job done yet, but I’m looking forward to how its all gonna turn out!

I often feel this internal dilemma over my style sometimes. For some reason, a part of me really wants to have ONE definable artistic style, but every time I think I’ve settled in on a signature style, I do a piece that completely breaks it. Prior to doing this painting, I drew figures with dark, heavy outlines and loose messy brush strokes. This piece, I approached in a very restrained manner. I think I must have done several sketches of it and traced the final piece from the roughs over a light-box ever so carefully. The problem in my head is that I adore BOTH approaches, and for some inexplicable reason I feel torn over it!

Outfits inspired by 60s advertisements. I don’t want to give away too much detail on the setting of my future webcomic’s alternate history to ours, but I am using these as a sort of reference for my characters’ wardrobes. This set is geared towards what my main character, Pomme, would wear. I imagine the right-most outfit is a getup for which her friends might make fun of her (aka I messed up my color choices).

Its technically not Friday anymore, but I had been really looking forward to my first Fanart Friday, so I’m just gonna pretend I operate on West Coast time or something!

This is Ayo and Bina from Magnolia Porter’s Monster Pulse. Currently one of my favorite webcomics! I think this is one of those ideas where its so creative and smartly designed that you just end up kicking yourself over not having come up with it yourself. Go read it!

This is the little watercolor image I did for a postcard to promote Meristem County at Small Press Expo! Her name is Pomme Granada, the main character. She is 11 years old at the beginning of the comic, and her “ability” is related to fruit trees :-). Check out the Meristem County page up top to find out more!

"Fatti Maschi, Parole Femmine" means "Manly Deeds, Womanly Words." It is the official motto of Maryland, my home-state.
